Girl Scouts Participate in National Philanthropy Day Event
Girl Scout Council of Orange County
Girl Scouts were front and center at the opening ceremony of 2009 National Philanthropy Day Luncheon on Wednesday, November 18th. The annual event honors Orange County's top philanthropists. Eight Girl Scouts--Brownies through Seniors--performed a traditional flag ceremony for nearly 900 attendees. Eight girls represented Orange County Girl Scouts including: Iliana Torres, Mayesha Huq, Cianna Means, Abigail Reitman, Olivia Bobrownicki, Serena Green, Katie Wilhelm and Mimi Kawai.
The event held a special honor for the Girl Scout Council of Orange County who nomiinated John and Elizabeth Stahr for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Stahrs are major supporters of Girl Scouts and many other deserving organizations. Elizabeth, a life-long Girl Scout, served as the Co-Chair of the Council's signature event, Urban Adventure in 2008, served on the event committee in 2008, and was the 2009 Honorary Chair.
